People Supporting Paws was created in response to the overwhelming need for support for street dogs and cats in Tulum, Mexico where animal welfare resources are limited and rescuers are stretched thin. In areas like this, where even a simple walk down the street reveals animals in need, those doing the work often don’t have the time or means to fundraise for critical care costs. PSP exists to help fill that gap.
Although Tulum is where our work began and remains a cornerstone of our mission, we recognize that this need exists in many underserved communities, including across the U.S. We support people helping animals wherever resources are scarce (which is often in a community near you!). We are a 100% volunteer-run organization, so donations go directly to vet care, supplies, and emergency needs—not salaries.
As of January 2025, People Supporting Paws is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit. We’re so grateful for everyone who’s joined in to support paws in need so far and we’re excited for everything still ahead!
